World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition there are many weapons with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is generally a positive aspect, but it may also have negative effects. In the case of items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them useless unless you have an extremely lucky roll.
Armor items can be upgraded to improve their stats. This can boost the defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain when upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that a change from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that are circling. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's levels, or connect it to an account's status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a a huge difference in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. The more defense your character is, the more value you can get from each point of health, so it's important to improve your armor as much as possible.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and in order to unlock each fountain, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade the next one. For instance, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive an entire raid with a few friends.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock some perks on your armor. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the armor on your chest and helmets to let you escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five kinds of potions, each with specific effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. In addition, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Potion upgrades require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.
There were some changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For instance, splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display for the item). The potion table is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Also, putting a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone. item upgrades of potions has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket could be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It could be a reference to an object or decoration that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant, such as a thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is a way to express affection or friendship between family members.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered using tokens, gold, or fragments from a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new trinket. One can upgrade a trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are no longer useful and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that will not replace anytime soon (such as an earring or a cloak). When deciding which items to upgrade players should consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade can destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing a new one.
